The offer has to be findable in seconds
The first screen should say what you sell and to whom. A slogan that could sit on any company in the sector is not an offer. Service pages should each carry one service, not a mash of every line you might add next year.
If a stranger cannot tell whether you install cabinets, book hotel rooms, or build software, the rest of the design will not save the visit.
Proof and the next step
Show work, locations, or operating context that a buyer can verify. Contact, quote, or booking must be reachable without hunting. WhatsApp can sit beside email if that is how the market writes. A form that asks for a novel is a closed door.
Test the path on a small phone with a slow connection. If the button sits under a cookie wall or a hero video that never loads, the site has not launched in any useful sense.
Search access is a launch item
Titles, H1s, crawlable links, canonicals, robots rules, and the XML sitemap belong in the same review as the visual pass. Staging noindex flags left on production are a common way to “launch” a site Google will not store.
Rebuilds need redirects. Our technical SEO checklist article walks through that review in order. Run it against the production domain, not only the staging URL.
Someone must be able to change the copy
Services, hours, and staff names change. Decide which fields the team edits and which changes need development. A beautiful site that requires an agency ticket to fix a phone number will rot.
When the team needs a panel, scope the fields they will actually touch. A generic CMS with two hundred unused modules is not ownership.
Use this list in the brief
Offer clarity, proof, contact path, mobile, titles and sitemap, redirects if you are replacing a domain or slug, and content ownership. That is enough to compare agencies.
METEK Digital treats those items as website delivery, not optional extras. Send the list with your current site and the action you need visitors to complete.
